Black And White

The stage is set and actors positioned
To either kill or die they are conditioned
Each on their own with their favored weapon
To plan and attack teach them a lesson
Sharpen your brains, march forward with offense
Strengthen your heart, build a great defense

Your color doesn’t matter, be it black or white
All that you need is valor of a knight
Plan like the queen douse them in fright
You may be a bishop or rookie, everybody here fights
All that matters is your mark on the squares
The king wants it all, rage a war who cares?

Ever wondered how similar it is to you
You can relate to them, at least a few?
King represents your heart while queen the brain
Queen plans what king wants and then they train
Your emotions are the knight, power in them if used correctly
Bishop is your skill will help you cross the paths covertly

Then there is the rookie representing your strength
Daring and dashing, travelling intangible lengths
There are still the pawns quite a few in numbers
Smaller in size and far more humbler
Well, you may think that they are useless in crisis
But they represent all those things that you have to sacrifice

For they become your stepping stones for success
They act as bait, for you to prove your prowess
Ponder at the scheming and sketching in our life
With skills, strengths and emotions our daily strife
Now I know what Survival of the fittest is
And all for what, few square meals?

  9. Ms. Manasa, you have a penchant for writing and your poetry has an essence of social consciousness and a mind with passive anger that points to all those you write about that you get to see and/or contemplate. Your writing makes sense in a light way and does not press the reader too heavily on the head... enjoyed reading it.

  11. Just playing chess with your dad for a few hours made you to Pour Poetic expressions very elegantly in flowery language. Voh, good. The great poet SRI SRI said : KADEDI KAVITAKU ANARHAM. In other words, everything inspires poetry. You successfully proved it with your inner eye. What I understood is : For others, Every object may be an ordinary matter. But, for you it is an artifact that enkindles in you a myriad of musings always powerfully craving for poetic look. I also absolutely agree with the comments of VST (ofcourse, I too once told you and also advised the same) that there is not only social consciousness in your poems but also all other which a reader of your blog ought to know. We are proud that you are MANDUVA.
